Chettinad Vidhyashram was established by Dr. Mrs. Meena Muthiah. It is affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. The School follows the CBSE curriculum with the three language formula. English being the first language is compulsory for all classes. Hindi, Tamil, Sanskrit, French and Telugu are the range of languages that could be chosen as the 2nd and 3rd languages.
The school in intent upon developing a new technique in education, a method for drawing out the talents latent in the child. This would be achieved through promotion of creative activities encouraged by the teachers, fostered with love and kindness.
The School has well equipped Bio Lab makes learning an enjoyable process, 12 Computer Science Labs. The labs are well equipped and have lab assistants to aid the students, Air Conditioned Auditorium with Seating limit of 1200 students, well equipped library with about 10,000 books.

Chettinad have academic admission for the Pre KG, Montessori and Kindergarten. This is done in the month of November.
For XI the admission is done in the month of June based on the academic marks scored in class 10.
Selected candidates Teachers training at CV, which also starts at the beginning of the academic year.
Tanjore Painting School at The Kumaran Rajah Muthiah School of Arts and Crafts, where only 15 eligible students are admitted for the course.
